Media and Communications Honours Thesis 2 - MECO Year - In this unit students complete and submit a substantial, independent research project in Media and Communications. Regular meetings with a supervisor approved by the Department of Media and Communications Honours Coordinator will guide their progress. Media and Communications Honours Thesis 1 - MECO Year - Research towards and preliminary writing of an Honours thesis of 18 words, in collaboration with a supervisor approved by the Honours Coordinator. One of the key projects of CNM students is the honours thesis where students develop their own research questions, conduct independent fieldwork and analyse their data under close guidance from their supervisors. In other CNM modules, students also undertake other research projects such as product proposals and business plans.

Programme requirements

Honours studies in this area will advance students' knowledge and competencies in the discipline of communication. Students are required to complete 48 points of study comprising a thesis and two coursework units. Coursework units and the thesis topic are chosen in consultation with the communications honours coordinator on the relevant campus. In addition it should also identify the supervisor, and contain the following statement: 'A dissertation presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements of the degree of Bachelor of (either) Arts, Communication or Journalism with Honours.' Two copies of the thesis must be submitted, both of which will be returned after it has been marked.
